Dhruv Jurel, the young wicket-keeper batter from Uttar Pradesh, lived a dream on Thursday, receiving his maiden Test cap amidst emotional scenes in Rajkot against England. The 23-year-old, known for his consistent performances in domestic cricket, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, calling it a “very special occasion”.

Adding to the significance, veteran wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik, himself a renowned figure in Indian cricket, had the honor of presenting Dhruv Jurel with his cap.

In a heartfelt video shared by the BCCI, Karthik acknowledged Jurel’s dedication and the sacrifices made along his journey.

Dhruv Jurel emphasized the unique honor of representing India in Test cricket, a moment Jurel had “imagined, manifested, and rehearsed so many times.”

His performance will be closely watched not just by the nation but also by his home state of Uttar Pradesh, which has produced several cricketing greats.

The third Test against England is a crucial one for India, and Jurel’s inclusion brings a fresh perspective and energy to the team. While his contribution is yet to be seen on the field, his debut itself marks a milestone and the beginning of an exciting new chapter in his cricketing career.
