Sarfaraz Khan got his much awaited Test debut for India. The 26-year old hammered a fine fifty on his Test debut. But his journey to the Indian Cricket Team has been a testament of his hard work and patience. Sarfaraz had to wait for his chance in the team patiently and it has yielded a positive result.
Sarfaraz has been playing sensational cricket in the domestic circuit for a long time. His Test call up could have taken place 2 years earlier, but was shunned owing to his poor attitude. But the youngster continued to work hard as he let his bat do the talking.
And when the opportunity came, Sarfaraz took it with arms wide open. Shreyas Iyer was dropped owing to his poor form. Sarfaraz finally got his chance after India was plagued with injuries. The youngster finally got his cap from Anil Kumble and then set the pace in the game.
Sarfaraz finally made his way into the crease after being padded up for 4 hours. He joined Ravindra Jadeja after Rohit Sharma’s dismissal. The Mumbaikar took little to no time to settle and then went on to hammer runs. He slammed 9 fours and 1 six to reach 62 runs. He unfortunately got out on a horrible mix-up with Jadeja.
But Sarfaraz’s long wait was much and well deserved. He got his chance and rose to the occasion. A fine fifty at Rajkot has essentially rang warning bells for Shreyas Iyer.
