Rohit surpassed Dhoni on the first day of the Rajkot Test against England. In the second session of the day’s play, the veteran sent Joe Root over wide mid-on for a huge six. Rohit made it seem effortless, as he cleared the ropes with ease.
The India skipper has played fewer Test matches compared to Dhoni and Sehwag. In 97 Test innings, Rohit Sharma has smashed 79 Test sixes. Over his nearly 10-year Test career, Sharma has participated in 57 Test matches for Team India. While MS Dhoni’s 78 came from 90 games and 144 innings.
Although he has been a vital component in limited overs cricket, the Mumbai batsman initially struggled to fulfil his potential in Test cricket. However, since transitioning to an opener role in the longest format in 2019, Rohit has displayed significant improvement and maturity as a batsman.
Recently, Rohit Sharma achieved a new milestone by breaking the record for the most number of sixes in international cricket, along with completing 300 ODI sixes. Additionally, in his ongoing 57 Test matches, Rohit Sharma has amassed a total of 3888 runs.
