When it comes to Tests, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has been going through bit of a rough patch. He has failed in the first two Tests vs England, and was a similar story in the South Africa series as well. The failures are even more glaring, in the absence of Virat Kohli, as India lacks any other experienced in the batting order.
In the last four Tests, Rohit has only scored 5, 0, 39, 16, 24, 39, 14, & 13. While it is not reflective of what he is capable of doing, problems could only mount for him during the third Test in Rajkot, where KL Rahul & Shreyas Iyer have already been ruled out.
Rohit Sharma & India Practice Session
As per a report in the Indian Express, during the team’s practice session on Tuesday, Rohit had to struggle against a net bowler as well. The report suggested that his stump was uprooted by a sharp in-swinger. If that was not enough, on the very next ball, that moved away, Rohit nicked one.
While net sessions are never really an indicator of the form of a player, but it could perhaps be a hint, that the Indian skipper is under pressure. Having said that, Rohit averages 61 in the country, and there is no reason why he can’t bounce back. In fact, the flat track at Rajkot, that is usually on offer, could be excellent venue for Rohit to get some runs.
