In a move least expected, England fast bowler Reece Topley, who had pulled out of the PSL 2024 due to an injury, has joined team MI Emirates ahead of the ILT20 knockouts. The 29-year-old English pacer, who was slated to play for PSL franchise Multan Sultans, wasn’t given an NOC by the ECB to travel to Pakistan and was ruled out of the entire tournament.
Meanwhile, Topley was recently seen in action at the SA20 league, where he played for the Durban Super Giants, and the latter finished as the runners-up. Now with him joining MI Emirates, it looks likely that he will play in the IPL 2024 as well, where he was retained by the RCB, despite missing the majority of the season due to an injury.
Apart from that, two more changes have been made to the squad. Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Monank Patel have also joined the ranks, as replacements for Fazalhaq Farooqi and Corey Anderson, respectively
As far as the ILT20 is concerned, MI Emirates are at the top of the points table and will play their qualifier against Gulf Giants. The latter are at the second spot currently.
