Sarfaraz Ahmed will cease to be the captain of Quetta Gladiators for Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 9. The new captain is set to be decided by Shane Watson in due course of time.
Sarfaraz Ahmed sought to take a break from captaincy and his wish has been granted. Under the veteran’s leadership, the Gladiators featured in 3 PSL finals. The Gladiators even won the title back in 2019.
“Sarfaraz wants to take a break from captaincy with new head coach Shane Watson set to decide who will lead the side after consulting with the team management,” Nadeem Omer, owner of Quetta Gladiators told Geo News.
“The old family of Quetta Gladiators has started coming together again. Pietersen should also come with Quetta Gladiators in some role,” Nadeem added.
As per reports, Saud Shakeel and Rilee Rossouw are among the top candidates to take the skipper’s spot. PSL season 9 is slated to start on 17th February and will conclude on 18th March
