Former England pacer Stuart Broad has said it will be difficult for another set of pacers to replicate what he and James Anderson have achieved as a bowling pair. The duo had been a mainstay of the England cricket team since almost two decades, sharing the new ball across formats. However, Broad refused to believe they were the last great Test fast bowling pair in the era of T20 cricket.
Broad and Anderson have over 1200 wickets between them and have pulled England out of tricky situations numerous times in the past. Broad said he feels it will be tough for a pace duo to overtake them in terms of wickets taken.
“I don’t think we are the last of the great bowing partnership in Test cricket. Jasprit Bumrah is an outstanding Test bowler. I don’t think our partnership, in terms of wickets we have taken, will get overtaken because of the longevity of our career,” he told news agency PTI on the sidelines of SA20.
“I certainly think that there will be bowling partnerships that will light up world cricket in the next few years,” he added.
Broad also talked about the great bowling partnership they have watched growing up.
“I grew up watching fast bowling partnerships like Courtney Walsh and Curtly Ambrose, Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram, Darren Gaugh and Andy Caddick to name a few. I am sure there will be another partnership coming soon,” Broad said.
