Not injured? Shreyas Iyer axed from India squad for remainder of IND vs ENG Test

IND vs ENG Test: Injured or Not? Shreyas Iyer dropped from Team India for IND vs ENG Test series

The BCCI has finally announced the squad for the remainder of the IND vs ENG Test series. Apart from Virat Kohli, another major missing is Shreyas Iyer. The star batter was injured but was cleared for selection. However, the board decided not to keep him for the last 3 Tests, essentially meaning that he was dropped.

Shreyas Iyer has been in poor touch off late. The dependable middle order batter has failed to score big runs and thus has lost out on his place. While he complained of a back spasm and groin injury, the NCA decided to claim that he is fit for selection.

But when the squad was announced, Iyer was not in the list. This vouches for the point that he has been axed from the squad. “If Shreyas was to be rested because of injury, the BCCI medical bulletin would have had an update. Since there are no updates, it can be concluded that he has got the axe,” a source was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

The India Squad was released today. The hosts have fielded a strong team with KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja return from their respective injuries. But Shreyas Iyer’s absence remains uncleared. But should he been injured then the BCCI would have mentioned in their squad release.

BCCI mentioned how Virat Kohli is missing the Tests for personal reasons. The release further added that KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja’s return is based on late fitness calls.

India Squad for Remainder of IND vs ENG Test Series – Rohit Sharma (C), Jasprit Bumrah (VC), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel (WK), KS Bharat (WK), R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep
