Former South African speedster and Sunrisers Eastern Cape bowling coach Dale Steyn on Friday heaped praises on South African batter Heinrich Klaasen. Klassen is plying trade for Durban Super Giants at the SA20 at the moment and will play against the Sunrisers in the SA20 final. It is rare for a coach of the opposition to heap praises on a rival batter ahead of a final, but Steyn has done just that. Steyn claimed Klassen will set the IPL 2024 on fire.
Klassen has been in magnificent form in the SA20 2024, scoring runs at ease. He played a deciding innings of 74 runs in the semi-final to help his team reach the final.
Interestingly, Klassen will don the Sunrisers Hyderabad jersey in the upcoming IPL 2024. Steyn was asked about Klassen before the SA20 final. Steyn was appreciative of the young batter and said he will set IPL 2024 on fire.
“He’s phenomenal, he really is a wonderful batter. I think we are all extremely excited about going up against somebody like him in the form that he’s in,” Steyn said ahead of the final.
“I’m a big fan of cricket, so I like watching how guys go about playing their roles. It’s great that we have got him at Sunrisers Hyderabad because he is going to set the world on fire in the IPL this year, I can guarantee you that. But I’m hoping that just for one game, he doesn’t score too many runs. That will be good for us,” Steyn added.
