Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin on Wednesday spoke about how playing for Tamil Nadu has helped him become a better cricketer. Ashwin also said he would like to give something back to the state that has helped him so much.
Ashwin was back to his state in between the break in the IND vs ENG series. The off-spinner on Wednesday attended the TNPL auction. He is a part of TNPL team Dindigul Dragons. The TNPL side retained him ahead of the auction.
Ashwin has been a servant of the Indian cricket team for a long time. He is currently vying to become one of the rare Indian bowlers to achieve the milestone of 500 wickets in Tests. He is currently stuck at 499. Ashwin will need one more wicket in the IND vs ENG 3rd Test to join the elite club.
However, in between the break in the IND vs ENG series, he came to support his team in the TNPL auction.
“It is my commitment to Tamil Nadu cricket. Every time I have played cricket for Tamil Nadu – club cricket or Ranji – i have played with a lot of passion. The more I have played, the better cricketer I have become. I want to give it back for what TN cricket has provided for me. I enjoy doing it, and it’s not like others who do it for a cause,” Ashwin said on the sidelines of TNPL auction.
