No matter how sound the technology becomes in cricket, there is always a chance of a human error in the sport. On Wednesday, during the second ODI between Australia women and South Africa women, something strange, yet hilarious transpired, that only went on to show that, umpires are humans, after all.
During the first innings of the match, where the South Africans were put into bat, all-rounder Ashleigh Gardener appealed against Sune Luus, for an LBW. The umpire, Aussie Claire Polosak adjudged the batter not out. But the Australians went in for a DRS review.
The replays also showed that the batter was not out. Then, after being asked by the TV umpire to stay with her original decision, Polosak, mistakenly signaled Luus out. Realising her mistake soon, she changed her decision, and had a good laugh about it.
