Mumbai stand-in captain Shivam Dube, who led them to a win in the recent Ranji Trophy encounter vs Bengal on Sunday, has been given a break for the match against Chhattisgarh.
As per a report in Mid-day, Dube seems to be experiencing stiffness is legs, and the decision to exclude him for the next match is just a precautionary measure.
Mumbai chief selector Raju Kulkarni said, “Shivam has been given rest because he is facing some stiffness in his legs. It’s just a precautionary measure as there will be hardly any gap between our last league game and knockout matches. He will play against Assam and then in the knockouts.”
Once again, Ajinkya Rahane, who missed the previous match against Bengal due to a hamstring injury, will be back as the skipper.
Also, the likes of Shams Mulani, Tushar Deshpande, and Shardul Thakur will be back for the next match in Raipur. Meanwhile, Mumbai are at the top of the points table in Elite Group B with 27 points after five matches.
