Punjab Kings captain Shikhar Dhawan has been putting in the hours as IPL 2024 draws near. Dhawan will be returning to competitive cricket after a considerable amount of time, and he will be looking to lead Punjab Kings to glory in IPL 2024. Ahead of the start of the tournament, Dhawan said he is confident about performing well this season.
After paying Rs 8.5 crore to purchase Dhawan during the IPL 2022 auction, Punjab Kings named him the team’s captain the next year, replacing him with Mayank Agarwal. Dhawan is expecting a stronger performance from the previous finalists, despite his side’s largely forgettable showing in the previous two editions.
In order to help his team perform well in the tournament, Shikhar Dhawan talked about how he has been concentrating on improving both his general fitness and gameplay.
“The preparations for the IPL are going well. Now I am focusing on my fitness, skill and visualisation as well. I see myself performing well out there this season.” Dhawan told News18.
“The focus is to help Punjab Kings get the trophy and follow a strong process and preparation along the way.
“The focus is to make sure that I go from point A to point B with just as much enjoyment. Also to create an amazing environment where all the boys are very happy being themselves and performing their best by making a nurturing environment. As a leader that will be my role,” Dhawan added.
