Swashbuckling India batter Shafali Verma led by example, as she scored 133 from just 64 balls for North Zone, against North East Zone, in the Women’s Inter Zonal One Day Trophy on Monday. The skipper of the side, Shafali smashed 10 fours and nine sixes in her innings, as per a report in Female Cricket.
Coming in to bat at No. 5, instead of her regular opening position, Shafali adapted brilliantly to the new role, and propelled the score to 356/6. On the other hand, she was supported well by Amanjot Kaur, who scored 92 runs off 86 balls.
Meanwhile, this is the fastest List A ton by any Indian women’s player.
Shafali Back in Form
The knock has come at a crucial time for Shafali, who had been struggling to get some runs under her belt. With the WPL 2024 approaching soon, her hundred will keep her in good stead. Prior to this, her white-ball form wasn’t as good.
In the last five ODIs, she returned with scores of 1, 8, 0, 4, and 1. In the T20Is she registered scores of 0, 6, 64, 1, and 26.
