On the field, Jasprit Bumrah is usually a calm and collected customer who rarely crosses the line. Much like he did after the ODI World Cup 2023 Final, where he consoled a distraught Mohammed Siraj, Bumrah has come out and defended his teammate Mukesh Kumar after his unsuccessful outing in his first-ever match on Indian soil.
Mukesh had a tough time with the ball, bowling just seven overs at 6.3 runs an over and going wicketless in England’s first innings in the IND vs ENG 2nd Test. On an ‘unfriendly’ pitch, the 30-year-old was taken to the cleaners by English batters. After his abysmal performance, Bumrah has come to his aid.
When asked about his Mukesh and his poor show with the ball, Jasprit Bumrah defended the pacer, claiming that he’s new to Test cricket and that the Indian management has their full faith in him.
“That can happen to anyone. He has just started to play international cricket. He has started out on Test cricket. We have a lot of confidence in him.“
He further went on to say that having a bad day or making mistakes is part of the process, and that’s what helps you grow and get better as a cricketer.
That is the mindset, I think, obviously, you have to learn by making mistakes. You get better by making mistakes.”
“I don’t look at it as a bad day. Everybody makes mistakes. It’s a learning day. Even I make mistakes. That is the conversation we will have. ‘Okay, that day has passed, focus on what we can do better. Try and give your best’.”
