Yashasvi Jaiswal stands tall in Vizag with career-best 179, leads India’s charge

Yashasvi Jaiswal kept England bowlers on the backfoot with strokeful 150 in IND vs ENG 2nd Test even when other Indian batters failed to make big contribution.

6 matches, 10 innings, two centuries and both are daddy hundreds. Yashasvi Jaiswal keeps standing tall even when most Indian batters fail to make significant contributions. In the IND vs ENG 2nd Test, Jaiswal once again stood tall, smashing 150 when India lost wickets without big numbers behind them. This was his 2nd 150 in Test after his 171 on debut against West Indies. At the end of Day 1, he remained unbeaten on career-best 179 with a maiden double century in sight.

Rohit Sharma departed for 14, Shubman Gill faltered after a good start, scoring 34, Shreyas Iyer made 27 while Rajat Patidar also failed to convert his start. Debutant Patidar scored 32.

However, among the different levels of failure, Yashasvi Jaiswal remained nonchalant. He kept finding the gaps, kept taking on England spin attack, on the front foot and on the back foot to get to his 150. His daddy hundred had 17 fours and five sixes as Jaiswal led the charge.
