Indian wicketkeeper-batter KS Bharat on Thursday talked about what it will be like to play in front of a home crowd. Bharat, who hails from Andhra Pradesh, will playing the IND vs ENG 2nd Test on his home ground for the first time. Ahead of the match, Bharat said it will be a special moment for him to don the national jersey in front of his home crowd.
KS Bharat did not have a good outing in the IND vs ENG 1st Test. The wicketkeeper-batter scored a gritty 41 in the first innings but just when it looked like he would go on to score big, he was trapped in front of the wicket by part-time off-spinner Joe Root. In India’s second innings, he again put himself in a good position before being bowled by Tom Hartley on 28. The wicketkeeper-batter will be looking to put in some big scores in front of his home crowd to consolidate his position in the Indian line-up.
In the pre-match press conference, Bharat spoke about his emotions about playing in his home ground.
“Playing in front of your home crowd is special. I am looking at this as any other Test match. There is something to look forward to. We are looking to bounce back. There will be lot of noises. Good and bad. You have to be in the present moment. I feel proud to be playing in front of my home crowds. We have to first win the Test match. It’s definitely an overwhelming feeling but then you have to let it sink and focus on the test game.” Bharat said.
