The IND vs ENG 2nd Test is around the corner. Rohit Sharma’s men will look to bounce back after that damning defeat in the IND vs ENG 1st Test. Ahead of the match, former Indian wicketkeeper Deep Dasgupta had an unorthodox advice for Indian captain Rohit Sharma. Dasgupta adviced Rohit to bat at number 4. Dasgupta urged Rohit to think out of the box in order to get the better of England in the remaining matches.
The Indian skipper had decent starts in both innings of the IND vs ENG 1st Test. However, Rohit Sharma was not able to convert those starts into big scores. He was dismissed for 24 and 39 respectively in both innings. On the other hand, KL Rahul batted at number 4 for India in the first Test, scoring 86 and 22 in both innings. However he was ruled out of the second Test following an injury.
There will be quite a few changes in the Indian XI in the IND vs ENG 2nd Test, with Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul ruled out and Sarfaraz Khan, Rajat Patidar and Sourabh Kumar called in as replacements.
Deep Dasgupta also advised the Indian team management to play four spinners. “I want Rohit (Sharma) to bat at No. 4. It is slightly out of the box and I will go in with four spinners, which will have both Washington (Sundar) and Kuldeep (Yadav). I will play one less seamer,” Dasgupta was quoted as saying on his YouTube channel.
He went on to suggest how India should line up.
“Now let me quickly go through the playing XI. If I get Shubman (Gill) and Yashasvi (Jaiswal) to open, (Rajat) Patidar plays at No. 3 because that is where he plays. Rohit plays at No. 4 and Shreyas (Iyer) at No. 5,” he added.
