Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra stated that it was imperative that England play James Anderson in the IND vs ENG 2nd Test at Vishakhapatnam. The veteran Test bowler was left out of the 1st Test at Hyderabad.

In his latest YouTube video, Chopra asserted that the visitors need Anderson to provide control on a good surface. He added that England’s spinners can’t do so and that the veteran pacer can deliver short spells conceding lesser runs.

I still feel they should play James Anderson for sure because you need a little control and none of their spinners has the ability to provide control on a good surface. In such a case, James Anderson can give you a five-over spell and then a four-over spell and concede only eight or nine runs,” the former India opener said.

Chopra further said that England were ready to play all four spinners, leaving out Mark Wood or Anderson. He claimed that the visitors had good bowling options and that Anderson was instrumental for the side in the 2nd Test.

The 41-year-old pacer has ample experience playing in India, having toured the nation five times before. After his omission in the first Test, Anderson would be raring to have a go at the India cricket team sans Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, and KL Rahul.
