Earlier today, we got the first glimpse of the pitch for the IND vs ENG 2nd. Although the surface was covered for the majority of the time, people had started to speculate that the pitch would spin big and may even keep a touch low as the match proceeded.
However, England cricket team opener Zak Crawley has a contrary view. After England took its first assessment of the pitch, Crawley believed that the pitch would seam. Yes, you heard it right—not spin, but the pitch will offer seam movement.
When asked about the pitch after England’s first practice session in Vizag, Zak Crawley stated the pacers will get some assistance from the pitch, which as of now is green and damp. He said:
“So, this wicket looks a bit better to seam; according to the guys, I haven’t seen it, like I said, but that’s what they said.”
“It’s just a bit damper; I think here it seems like they’re a bit greener, so we’ll see what happens there.”
However, Crawley later said that the pitch and conditions would play no factor in the result. He added:
“We just try and play the same, read the conditions on day one and see what happens from then.”
