Taking away that fear and anxiety: Ben Stokes leads as perfect captain after win in IND vs ENG 1st Test

IND vs ENG Test: Ben Stokes claims he matured as a captain, sends strong message to team after win in Hyderabad Test

England Cricket Team captain Ben Stokes is thrilled after England’s win in IND vs ENG 1st Test. Ahead of the Vizag Test, Stokes has claimed that the team is charged up and raring to go. Furthermore, leading from the front, Stokes wants to take away the fear and anxiety from his team-mates.

England made a sensation comeback in the first Test to secure a 28 run victory in Hyderabad. He claimed that his job as a captain is simple. He wants to score runs as a batter and scalp wickets as a batter.

As a bowler, your job is to think about taking wickets. As a batsman, it’s about going out there and scoring runs. Anything more than that is overcomplicating it. I’m just taking away that fear and anxiety around the outcome,” Ben Stokes said.

Leading the team is a tough job as it requires handling different personalities. However, Stokes is a capable captain and has showcased his captaincy skills for the Three Lions. After giving a strong message to his teammates he claims that he has matured as a person in being the captain of the squad.

Understanding different individuals and personalities, because in a team sport, you have got a lot of people and not everyone is the same. That’s helped me mature as a person,” Stokes concluded.
