Drank until 3 in morning: Dean Elgar opens up on how Virat Kohli apologized after spitting incident

Dean Elgar clears air on how Virat Kohli apologized after spitting incident, both drank till 3 AM in the morning

Virat Kohli recently made the headlines recently for wrong reasons. Former South Africa batter Dean Elgar opened up on the infamous incident when Kohli spat at him. However, dean Elgar went on to claim how after a couple of years, Kohli apologised and both drank till 3 in the morning.

Elgar recounted the incident in 2015 when Kohli, the then captain of the India Cricket Team spat at the Proteas southpaw. However, when the incident took place, AB De Villiers stood on his behalf and complained to Kohli.

“AB went up to him and said, ‘Bud, why are you spitting at my teammate? That’s not on,” Dean Elgar said how ABD stood up to Virat Kohli.

‘”Two or three years later we’re playing in South Africa, and [Kohli] calls me aside and says, ‘Can we have a drink together at the end of the series? I just want to apologise for my actions.’ The punchline is we drank until three in the morning,” Elgar added.

However, the incident had a happy ended when Kohli apologised for his rude actions. The duo then went to party after India toured South Africa and went on to drink till 3 in the morning. When Dean Elgar retired from Test cricket on IND vs SA 2nd Test, Kohli paid him a heartfelt tribute by bowing down to showcase Elgar’s greatness.
