Ravindra Jadeja reaches ‘new home’ for recovery after being ruled out of the IND vs ENG 2nd Test

Jadeja had suffered a hamstring injury during India's second inning that had resulted in him getting runout and India losing by 28 runs.

After suffering a hamstring injury during India’s 231-run chase in Hyderabad, Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the IND vs ENG 2nd Test. The star all-rounder’s absence has left a gaping hole in the India cricket team’s lineup that will be very difficult for Rohit Sharma and Rahul to fill.

While the severity of Ravindra Jadeja’s injury is yet to be confirmed, the southpaw has been put under the care of VVS Laxman at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

To confirm the news that he’ll spend the next few days at the NCA in Bengaluru, Jadeja put up a status on his Instagram account with the image of the NCA logo and wrote the caption, “Home for next few days.

Who can replace Ravindra Jadeja for the IND vs ENG 2nd Test?

In his absence, a like-for-like replacement in Saurabh Kumar has been added to the squad for the second Test in Vizag. Similar to Jadeja, Saurabh is a left-arm orthodox spinner and a handy batter down the order.

But he’s not all the India cricket team has as Jadeja’s replacement. Another all-rounder in Washington Sundar has also been added to the squad in the absence of the world’s No. 1 Test all-rounder. Sundar, like Ravindra Jadeja, is a left-handed batter and offers valuable off-spin.

If either of them is selected, not only do they bolster India’s batting but also strengthen their bowling as well. Apart from them, Rohit Sharma also has the option to select left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav as an out-and-out bowler and ensure they are ahead of England as far as their bowling capabilities go.
