In the 2022 edition of the IPL, Chahal won the Purple Cap with 27 wickets in 17 matches. He picked up crucial wickets in the middle overs throughout the tournament at an excellent economy rate of 7.75. Chahal has scalped 187 wickets in 145 matches.
Piyush Chawla
Piyush Chawla is another highly experienced campaigner who has been plying his trade in the IPL since its inception in 2008. Chawla has scalped 179 wickets in 181 IPL matches and holds the second position as most successful spinners in IPL history.
Amit Mishra
Amit Mishra’s IPL career began in 2008 when he made his debut for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals). He is the highest wicket-taking spinner in the history of IPL with 166 scalps to his name. Mishra has represented various franchises over the years like Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals. He was unsold in the 2022 auction but was picked up by Lucknow Super Giants for IPL 2023.
Ravichandran Ashwin
India’s premier off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has been among the top wicket-takers in almost every IPL season since making his debut in 2009. After shining for Chennai Super Kings in the initial years, Ashwin also represented Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals. He helped the Royals reach the final in IPL 2022, where he took 11 wickets in 17 games.
