ICC reprimands Jasprit Bumrah for breaching code of conduct during IND vs ENG 1st Test

India pacer Jasprit Bumrah was reprimanded by ICC for breaching code of conduct during IND vs ENG 1st Test in Hyderabad.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has reprimanded star Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah for breaching code of conduct during IND vs ENG 1st Test in Hyderabad.

The pacer was handed one demerit point for “inappropriate physical contact” with England player Ollie Pope in the 81st over of England’s second innings.

“Bumrah, after completing his follow through, deliberately stepped in Ollie Pope’s way as the batter went for a run, leading to inappropriate physical contact”, ICC said in statement.

“Bumrah admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Richie Richardson of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, so there was no need for a formal hearing”, the statement further read.

This was Bumrah’s first offense within 24-month period. Notably, according to ICC, if a player reaches four or more demerit points within a 24-month period, the player is banned for one Test or two ODIs or two T20Is, whatever comes first for the player.
