KL Rahul continues golden run in Test return, hits gritty fifty on Hyderabad

Following the dismissals of Jaiswal and Gill, Rahul showcased his class with a spectacular fifty, steering India towards a dominant position in the match.

KL Rahul 2.0 is a revelation. If you are still in awe of the century in Centurion, Rahul has played another knock worth remembering. Back in the Test after being dropped midway through the Border Gavaskar Trophy last year, Rahul has scored a gritty fifty in IND vs ENG 1st Test.

His half-century included six boundaries as he pounced on the odd loose deliveries while holding the fort in Hyderabad. Playing in Virat Kohli’s spot, Rahul ended the day just 14 runs short of his 4th Test ton after being dismissed by Tom Hartley.

With Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul added 64 runs to steady the ship after Yashasvi Jaiswal fell for 80. Rahul brought India back to the commanding position with his 14th 50 in the longest format of the game. And with that he also brought up 1000 runs at home. Rahul however became the second Indian batsman, following Yashasvi Jaiswal, to miss out on a stunning century in the match.

Following the dismissal of Iyer, Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja contributed a hefty 65 runs in to give India a considerable lead. Rahul produced an excellent performance against both spin and speed to post a gritty total of 86 of 123 balls adding two more boundaries and two consecutive sixes with stunning strike rate of 69.9
