U19 World Cup: India book their place in Super Six with convincing win over Ireland

Batting first, India put up a score of 301 on the board. In reply, Ireland were all out for 100 in 29.4 overs.

The Indian U19 team on Thursday confirmed their spot in the Super Six of the U19 World Cup, notching up their second consecutive win in the tournament against Ireland. India displayed another dominating performance against the Irish side, outplaying their opponents. Batting first, India put up a score of 301 on the board. In reply, Ireland were all out for 100 in 29.4 overs.

Ireland won the toss and decided to field first. India needed a win to qualify to the Super Six stage of the World Cup. Uday Saharan’s team was determined to achieve the qualification in this match.

India started their innings well, with both openers playing their part in providing the Men in Blue with a strong start. Musheer Khan, batting at no. 3 looked solid from the start. He scored a century to put India on course to a big total. He was ably assisted by captain Uday Saharan. Saharan played a gritty knock of 75 as India posted a steep total of 301.

Ireland looked lacklustre in their batting, losing wickets at regular intervals. The Irish side were bundled out for 100 runs as Naman Tiwari picked up a four-fer to kill the game. India will take on USA in their last group stage game but that match has been rendered a formality due to India’s huge win.
