England’s Bazball was blow apart by Indian spinners. Ben Duckett went on to appreciate India’s opener’s batting style as quite positive. He claimed that the visitors managed an above par score. Indian spinner scalped 8 wickets to bowl out England for 246 in IND vs ENG 1st Test in Hyderabad.
The English opener was surprised by the amount of spin from Day 1. Both Crawley and Duckett got off to a strong start. But it was Ashwin who scalped both the openers to strike a big blow to the Three Lions.
“It’s spinning quite a lot on day one. We could have easily had three or four [wickets] there tonight and it could have been very different. The way they played at the top was quite positive, and that’s fair play to them. I don’t think we necessarily thought they were going to come out and play like that, but Stokesy [Ben Stokes] got us to what we think was an above-par score,” Ben Duckett told talkSPORT.
Despite their poor show on the field, Ben Duckett is optimistic about his team’s chances in the game. He claims they could have had 3-4 early wickets. Despite complimenting India’s batting style he says things can turn around very soon.
“We’ll stick to our mantra and that’s taking wickets and looking to be positive. Hopefully that will happen for us as well. Fingers crossed, if moments like that happen tomorrow, we can stick three or four [wickets] on them and you never know. If we can keep them to around our score, or even a little bit of a lead, I think we’re right in the game,” Duckett concluded.
