India’s veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin heaped high praise on young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal after latter’s blazing knock on Day 1 of the IND vs ENG 1st Test in Hyderabad.
Jaiswal took on England spinner’s from the word go and slammed a 47-ball fifty with the help of 7 fours and 2 sixes. He remained unbeaten on 76 as India takes the opening day.
Hailing young Jaiswal’s carefree approach, Ashwin said that he sometimes see Rishabh Pant in Jaiswal’s batting.

“He’s [Yashasvi Jaiswal] not put a foot wrong, playing some shots. I’m enjoying watching it. I sometimes see Rishabh Pant in his [Jaiswal’s] batting. I would have like to see Pant & Jaiswal together against left arm spinners”, Ashwin said after the day’s play.
Talking about the opening day’s play, it was India who dominated most of the sessions. After being asked to bowl, India bowled out England for 246. Spin trio of Ashwin, Jadeja and Axar combined to pick eight wickets. Jasprit Bumrah grabbed two wickets. Stokes top-scored for the visitors with 70 off 88 balls.
