No need of that shot - Sunil Gavaskar blasts Rohit Sharma for playing unwanted shot in IND vs ENG Test

India Cricket Team skipper Rohit Sharma departed playing a risky and unnecessary shot. This prompted the great Sunil Gavaskar to claim that there was no need to play that kind of shot. India began their innings on fiery note but Rohit Sharma fell for 24 trying to hit a six.

It was Yashasvi Jaiswal who dominated India’s onslaught. But Rohit contributed as an anchor. He went on to slam 3 fours as he quickly raked up 24 runs from 27 balls. But eager to hit a six, Rohit mistimed Jack Leach and Ben Stokes took a comfortable catch to scalp India’s first wicket.

“There was no need of that shot,” said Sunil Gavaskar on commentary after Rohit Sharma’s dismissal. Rohit once again fell victim to the English spinner. This has been the 5th time he has been dismissed by Lack Leach in 7 innings.

Rohit Sharma Dismissal

This has been a typical Rohit Sharma dismissal. Playing a risky unwanted shot in a bid to go over aggressive. It was a good delivery from the left arm spinner. Rohit danced down the track in a bid to clear the stands. But the Indian skipper misjudged the flight of the ball and mistimed it.

The ball hit the toe end of the bat and took the high ariel route. English skipper Ben Stokes adjusts his position in the 30 yards circle and takes a fine catch to dismiss Rohit Sharma.
