How will COVID-19 impact Australia for 2nd Test against West Indies?

Australia have been boggled with COVID-19 issues leading up to the AUS vs WI 2nd Test at the Gabba, Brisbane

Australia have been boggled with COVID-19 issues leading up to the AUS vs WI 2nd Test at the Gabba, Brisbane. After Travis Head – who tested positive for COVID at the end of the 1st Test at Adelaide, the hosts are now two more men down with all-rounder Cameron Green and head coach Andrew McDonald both testing positive just ahead of the 2nd Test.

Will COVID-19 wreak havoc on AUS vs WI 2nd Test?

Both Green and McDonald have been isolated from the rest of the squad. The are to stay in isolation until the test results return negative. However, what is pertinent to note is that these two can be with the squad at the Gabba if they are feeling well. This marks a shift from the usual COVID policy where the person is not allowed to be with the side unless the test results return negative.

Cameron Green and Andrew McDonald will be separated from the group until they return a negative test,” Cricket Australia said in a statement.

It will not hinder Green taking part in or McDonald attending the match in line with CA protocols.”

On the contrary, Travis Head has tested negative in the latest set of Tests and is expected to join the side in Brisbane. Green’s absence might hurt Australia slightly as they head into the second Test eyeing a 2-0 clean sweep of the series against the West Indies.
