Arshdeep Singh the long-term solution to India’s left-arm pacer problem, says Mohammed Amir

The former fast bowler believes Arshdeep’s performances for the national team in the last few internationals have been remarkably good and could prove to be a key factor in India’s bowling attack in future.

Former Pakistan pacer Mohammed Amir on Tuesday batted in favour of Indian left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh, saying India have finally found the answer to their long-standing problem of finding a dependable left-arm fast bowler.

The former fast bowler believes Arshdeep’s performances for the national team in the last few internationals have been remarkably good and could prove to be a key factor in India’s bowling attack in future. With the T20 world cup just around the corner, the 26-year-old pacer can finally end the Indian selectors’ and BCCI’s long-suffering attempts to bring a genuine left-arm pace bowler into the fold.

Amir said that Arshdeep’s ability to bowl at 135-140 kmph is what makes him stand out from other unsuccessful left-arm pacers for India in the past.

“Arshdeep Singh can be India’s dependable left-arm pacer. Arshdeep can be a very good left-arm pacer. India needs one who can consistently bowl at 135-140,” Amir said on the sidelines of of a recent ILT20 match.

Amir also heaped praise on Mohammed Siraj, saying he has been very consistent in the recent past.

“From the last two-three years, the most impressive has been Mohammed Siraj. The way he has improved in white-ball cricket, it’s a good sign for Indian cricket,” Amir added.
