IPL discard Karun Nair to return to Northamptonshire for County Championship

After going unsold in IPL 2024 auction, Karun Nair has made himself available for the first seven games of the County Championship season.

After failing to find any franchise in IPL 2024 auction, Indian cricketer Karun Nair will return to Northamptonshire for County Championship in April.

Nair had a brilliant outing in his brief stint with the County club, 249 in his three innings. The 32-year-old’s availability was in doubt as he was hoping to find a team in IPL auction. But after going unsold, Nair has now made himself available for the first seven games of the Championship season.

“Not only did he score some incredible runs for us, his calmness, his temperament, and his hunger for more runs was superb,” Sadler said in a press release. “We are delighted to get him on board with us again and I’m sure he will be a super asset for us again this season”,Northants’ head coach was quoted as saying to ESPNCricinfo.

Nair also expressed his excitement on returning to County Championship and is hoping to win games for the side.

“I’m thrilled to be returning to Northamptonshire for another stint of County Championship cricket. Our aim is to win games and get promoted and I’m excited to get stuck in with the bat and help the team secure victories”, Nair told ESPNCricinfo.

Nair will be available for the Northants till May and will then be replaced by compatriot Prithvi Shaw who will join the team after completion of IPL 2024.
