Team India head coach Rahul Dravid on Tuesday confirmed that KL Rahul will keep wickets during the five-match IND vs ENG series, starting on 25 January in Hyderabad.
Speaking ahead of the first Test, Dravid explained that the decision was influenced by the length of the series and the warm weather conditions.
“KL Rahul will not be the keeper during this series. We will go with another keeping option considering the five matches and the weather,” Dravid said in press conference on Tuesday.
“Rahul did a fantastic job for us in South Africa and really played a big part in drawing that series, but considering it’s five Test matches and playing in theses conditions, so it is going to be toss up between the other two keepers that we have”, the India head coach further added.
With KL Rahul to play as batter, the toss up for the wicketkeeper role will be between KS Bharat and Dhruv Jurel.
