IND vs ENG: Zaheer Khan backs Rohit Sharma to lead by example, just like the World Cup

IND vs ENG: Rohit Sharma's role as a leader and batsman become more crucial, since Virat Kohli has opted out of the first two Tests.

Former India bowler Zaheer Khan has placed full faith in skipper Rohit Sharma the captain, and said that the latter would play a key role in the Test series against England. He went on to add, that Rohit will lead by example with the bat, that would be detrimental for the series.

“That has been the hallmark of his captaincy, and he leads from the front as seen in the World Cup. He walks the talk. When you have a leader walking the talk, it gives you better efficiency within the whole group. So, I think he’s a proven leader,” Zaheer was quoted as saying on JioCinema.

Rightly so, Rohit, with his blistering knocks at the World Cup, put India in commanding situations, early on in the match. Zaheer feels, that could be the ploy once more from the Indian skipper.

“You’ve seen him adapt nicely in England when it came to leaving the ball… You’ve seen that in Chennai when he played a match-defining knock. Winning the toss, batting first and getting the opposition completely out in the first innings and being instrumental in that, is something which gives satisfaction to any player playing at the highest level,” Zaheer added.
