ICC U19 WC 2024: Snehith Reddy reveals reason behind emulating Shubman Gill’s celebration

Snehith Reddy slammed an unbeaten 147 off 125 balls as New Zealand beat Nepal in ICC U19 World Cup 2024 on Sunday.

New Zealand all-rounder Snehith Reddy smashed an unbeaten 147 off 125 balls to power his side to a comfortable win over Nepal in ICC U19 World Cup 2024 on Sunday.

“It was extremely special and they enjoyed it and I loved it. They just told me to enjoy it. You know, it’s, it’s a massive occasion and there’ll be nerves, but I had fun. And that’s the key”, Reddy said in a video shared by ICC on Instagram.

The 17-year-old copied Shubman Gill’s ‘bow down’ celebration to commemorate his maiden century in the World Cup.

“We were talking a little bit before the game, the boys about if we get a milestone, what our celebration is going to be and I decided Shubman Gill’s ‘bow’ as my celebration. It was special, one of my favourite players. I love the way he makes contact with the ball. Is a very his timings exceptional and I tried to copy that into my batting, a little bit”, the young batter said.
