India’s Test dominance at home is no secret, and the country boasts of one of the best track-records in the longest-formats at home, in the last decade or so. Such has been India’s dominance, that out of the 46 matches played at home since December 2012, India has won 36 encounters, lost three, and drew seven.
That makes it a win% of to 78.26, that is close to what the Australian side of the 90s and 2000s achieved. From 1998 to 2007, the Aussies at home won 47 Tests, lost three, and drew nine. Their win % stood at 79.66. If that is not enough, India has gone on to win 16 Test series at home, after losing one to England in 2012, way ahead of closest rivals — Australian with 10 wins.
Virat Kohli Tops Batsmen’s List
In the same period of time, expectedly, Virat Kohli has been the most-prolific run-scorer in the country. In 43 Tests at home, since 2013, he has scored 3629 runs, at an average of 61, including 12 tons. On second spot in Cheteshwar Pujara, who has scored 3,109 runs in 44 matches, at an average of 49.34.
The R Ashwin Factor
Ashwin has been beyond excellent in the home Tests, in this period. In the 46 Tests, he has picked up 283 wickets, at an average of 19.63 and a strike rate of 45. Ravindra Jadeja, on the other hand, has 191 wickets in 39 Tests at an average of 20.16 and a strike rate of 52.5.
