India Open: Two finals a sign of consistency & titles will come, feel Satwik/Chirag

India Open Badminton: Satwik/Chirag had also lost the 2023 finals of the tournament.

On Sunday, top-ranked men’s doubles team of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy & Chirag Shetty lost the India Open final to WR-3 South Korean team of Kang MH/Seo SJ 21-15, 11-21, 18-21, in front of a partisan home crowd. This marks their second successive loss in the finals of tournament, having lost the summit clash of the Malaysia Open last week.

While it can be frustrating to not get past the finishing line on the final hurdle, the team of Satwik/Chirag just knows that title wins will also come, and making two finals in a row is a sign of consistency.

Speaking to the media after the match, one half of the team, Chirag said, “Obviously, going into the second week there’s a bit of fatigue. We’ve never played two back-to-back finals in our entire lives, probably in challenger tournaments, but never in Superseries. So the positive thing is that we’ve we are playing quite consistent.

“The not so good thing is that we couldn’t win their finals. But obviously, you can’t win everything. Obviously our targets are to win other big events. And I for a fact know that eventually things will turn into our favor. We just need to stick right there. But to look at the larger picture, we are happy that we could play the finals.”
