Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh is puzzled by Yuzvendra Chahal’s exclusion from the white-ball formats of the game. The veteran’s remarks over Chahal’s absence come after the latter was left out of IND vs SA and IND vs AFG series. Ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024, for which preparations have already begun, Bhajji explained what should be India’s spin combo for the marquee event.
Bhajji questions Chahal’s snub
Speaking to Hindustan Times, Harbhajan claimed that Chahal was being ignored and added that he didn’t know why but. Lavishing praise on the spinner, Bhajji said that there was no spinner braver than him and said that he has a very sharp mind.
“He is being ignored; I don’t know why. I don’t think he knows as well. But even today, I don’t think there is a better leg-spinner in the country. And I don’t think there is a braver spinner than him. He has a very sharp mind,” Harbhajan Singh said.
Further, Harbhajan named Ravindra Jadeja as his second spinner and said that the team needed an off-spinner in Washington Sundar as well. However, the ex-India cricketer left that to the discretion of the team and the management.
“Pitches will be pretty similar, like India. Spinners will play a big role. I’ve been to the West Indies on many occasions, and I’ve seen there’s always something for the spinners. Hence, it is important to pick the right attack. You cannot look past the conditions because they will be similar to the subcontinent. You have to make the team keeping in mind the conditions. You need to have at least three spinners in your squad,” exclaimed Harbhajan.
