Shoaib Malik achieves rare feat, becomes first Asian to score 13,000 runs in T20 cricket

In the history of T20 cricket, Malik has joined West Indies star Chris Gayle as the only players to have scored 13,000 or more runs in the format.

Good news just won’t stop arriving for Pakistan ace Shoaib Malik! After announcing his marriage to  actress Sana Javed amid rumours of his divorce with Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza, Malik on Monday achieved a rare feat in T20 cricket. Malik became the first Asian and only second cricketer in the world to score 13,000 runs in T20 cricket.

Playing in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Malik scored a crucial 17 off 18 balls to help his franchise upstage Rangpur Riders in the low-scoring encounter at Shere Bangla National Stadium. 

In the history of T20 cricket, Malik has joined West Indies star Chris Gayle as the only players to have scored 13,000 or more runs in the format.

Although he has quit Test and One Day International (ODI) cricket, the Pakistan cricketer is still playing in the T20 format of the game and will be eligible for selection in T20 World Cup in 2024.

Notably, On Saturday, the Pakistani cricketer confirmed that he had tied the knot with the country’s most popular actress Sana Javed for the second time in Karachi, putting an end to the speculation surrounding his breakup with Indian tennis player Sania Mirza.
