Al Nassr defender Aymeric Laporte lifts lid on Saudi problems, says many footballers are dissatisfied

When asked if he was thinking about leaving the club due to the ongoing problems, Laporte declined to comment.

Al Nassr defender Aymeric Laporte opened up about life in Saudi Arabia. The former Man City center back joined Al Nassr after six trophy-winning seasons at Etihad. Laporte joined a group of big-name European players who moved to Saudi Arabia last summer to join Al Nassr, including Cristiano Ronaldo.

Upon his arrival in the capital, the Spaniard became the highest-paid defender in Saudi Pro League history, but he has since declared his dissatisfaction with life at the club.

“It’s a big change compared to Europe, but in the end it’s all adaptation. They haven’t made it easy for us. In fact, there are many players who are dissatisfied, but hey; We are working on it every day, negotiating so to speak, and seeing if it improves a little because this is something new for them too, having European players who already have a long career,” Laporte told Spanish publication AS.

The 29-year-old added that despite the extravagant wages on offer in Saudi Arabia, European clubs tend to take better care of their players.

When asked if he was thinking about leaving the club due to the ongoing problems, Laporte declined to comment.

“No, let’s see. At the moment, I haven’t thought about it, but if I’m disappointed in such a short time, you wonder what to do,” Laporte said.
