When India clinched first series win against Pakistan
Batting first, Pakistan were bundled out for 272 runs, with Kapil Dev bagging four wickets. Known for his prowess with the bat, Gavaskar was out on that day to prove the same to a lethal Pakistan lead by Imran Khan. The Little Master batted for almost 10 hours, putting up a 166-run knock. Meanwhile, Kapil Dev added to the menace with a handy 84-run knock. Both of these stars were finally stopped by the visitors’ skipper Imran.
Dev returned stronger in the 2nd innings to wreak havoc on Pakistan, picking up 7 wickets. With Pakistan all out for 233 runs, India had little to do to chase to victory and that is exactly what they did with Gavaskar and Chauhan standing tall at the end, embracing a new record for the side.
