England pacer Ollie Robinson said he is ready to play with Virat Kohli’s ego in the upcoming IND vs ENG Test series, starting on January 25 in Hyderabad.
In an interview with ESPNCricinfo, Robinson said he is excited for the contest against Kohli, stating that one always wants to get the best player out.
“You always want to play against the best players, don’t you? And you always want to get the best players out. Kohli is one of those. He’s got a big ego and I think playing on that, especially in India, where he is going to want to dominate and score runs, playing on the fact we’ve had battles in the past, is exciting”, Robinson was quoted as saying to ESPNCricinfo.
The English pacer had the upper hand over Kohli in their previous encounters during India’s tour of England in 2021, with Robinson getting the better of Kohli thrice.

Robinson, who hasn’t played a Test since July 2023 due to an injury, said that he is ready to lead the attack alongside veteran James Anderson.
“I prepared like I was going to be the leader of the attack for years, and probably looked too far ahead, if anything. I think now, maturing a little bit and knowing what can happen, I’m preparing like I’m playing another series and just going to do my best for England. Not looking too far ahead, not looking to be the leader of the attack or anything like that. Support Jimmy, support the spinners, and just support the team,” Robinson added.
Robinson has had an impressive start to his Test career, picking up 66 wickets in 16 Tests. With Stuart Broad now retired, the 30-year-old could be the key bowler for the English side in the upcoming series.
