The oldest Derby in India is set for yet another chapter when Mohun Bagan Super Giant take on East Bengal in the Kalinga Super Cup on Friday. Mohun Bagan has been reeling with missing quite a few players due to national commitment, and the match against East Bengal will be no exception. Goalkeeper Vishal Kaith is in Doha playing for India and Arsh Shaikh is likely to be goal for the Mariners. Mohun Bagan will be missing their regular captain Subhashish Bose as he is away playing for India in the AFC Asian Cup.
The Mariners have been dealing with their skipper’s absence by playing three central defenders at the back. Raj Basfore, Hector Yuste and Brendan Hamill are likely to start against East Bengal too. Habas’ team is likely to follow the same path against East Bengal. Ashish Rai, the right-back who has been in form recently, will take up the wing-back’s position along the right flank.
The Kalinga Super Cup provides a chance to the clubs to play with six foreigners.
