Despite scoring just 188 in their first inning, the West Indies aren’t backing down. With their pace trio of Kemar Roach, Shamar Joseph, and Justin Greaves, the visitors have managed to keep Australia in check. However, it isn’t just great bowling but also some tactical brilliance by their skipper, Kraigg Brathwaite, that has helped them crawl back into the game.
After dismissing Usman Khawaja a few overs ago, Kraigg Brathwaite sensed an opportunity for an opening. He brought in his main pacer, Kemar Roach, back into the attack to ensure they got the Aussies five down before lunch on Day 2 of the AUS vs WI 1st Test.
Roach induced an edge off Mitchell Marsh that didn’t carry in his first over. In his next over, he produced another great ball that took the edge but didn’t carry to the third slip.
At this point, skipper Brathwaite decided to bring in Justin Greaves, who was stationed at the third slip, a couple of steps closer with his helmet on. This tactic put Mitchell Marsh off, who nicked the ball right after the field change to Greaves, who gobbled the ball up, and the whole team was in jubilation.
