NZ vs PAK: Kiwis leave Pakistan red-faced in Dunedin
After losing fellow opener Devon Conway early in the first innings, Finn Allen unleashed a furious assault on the Pakistan bowlers, taking them to the cleaners all over the park. The Kiwi opener smashed the third fastest century by a New Zealand batter, breaching the three figure mark in 48 deliveries.
Allen finished his innings at 137 runs, with his knock studded with 16 sixes and five fours. The hosts posted a mammoth 225-run target for Afridi and co. to get.
In response, Pakistan’s top order flopped, with the openers having to depart early. Babar Azam played a slow-paced innings not befitting of the run-chase that was required, as he remained the lone warrior for the side. His knock was studded with eight boundaries and one six. The curtains were brought down on his innings eventually by Ish Sodi, courtesy of a catch from Glenn Philips.
