Last year, Patea, who shares a daughter with Zverev, filed a complaint accusing him of causing her ‘bodily injury’. The Berlin prosecutor’s office had imposed a fine of €450,000 on Zverev then. The case was expected to go to court, and a date has now been set.

The World No. 6 player will have to appear in court in May of this year, according to a report by Deutsche Welle, citing a court spokesperson in Berlin.

“The main hearing in the case will begin in May 2024. We will announce the details in due course,” Deutsche Welle quoted spokesperson Lisa Jani as saying.

It’s worth noting that the 20-time Grand Slam champion has consistently denied the accusations and has maintained his innocence ever since the allegations were made public last year. Zverev, 26, was also charged with domestic violence by another girlfriend, Olga Sharypova.

After an in-depth investigation, the ATP determined that there was insufficient evidence to charge him with a crime and allowed him to play on the tour without being disciplined.
