Selected with Rohit & Virat Bhaiya: Dhruv Jurel’s reply to father after maiden Test call-up

Jurel was picked ahead of Ishan Kishan as India's third wicketkeeper batter for the India vs England Test series.

From a very young age, every Indian’s dream is to play cricket for their country. For Dhruv Jurel, that dream came true yesterday after receiving his maiden call-up for the India vs England Test series. In an interview following his maiden Test call-up,

Dhruv Jurel revealed that his entire family was shocked at first after he revealed that he’d be playing for the India cricket team. The 22-year-old revealed that when he told his family he’d been selected, his father asked which team. To which the wicketkeeper batter replied, the team with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

“When I told my dad, he was ecstatic. He asked me for which Indian team I have been selected. I said ‘the one with Rohit (Sharma) bhaiya and Virat (Kohli) bhaiya’. It was an emotional moment for the entire family,” Jurel said to Dainik Jagran

On the prospect of sharing the dressing room with a legend of the game, Rahul Dravid, and modern greats Kohli and Rohit, Dhruv Jurel said:

“I really don’t know what to say. I will share the dressing room with the heroes that I have watched on television. This will be an entirely different experience. I would try to learn as much as possible.”
