India’s legendary spinner Harbhajan Singh has found the replacement for Indian pacer all-rounder Hardik Pandya. Harbhajan thinks that Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Shivam Dube could become India’s pace all-rounder.
India easily defeated Afghanistan by 6 wickets in the opening match of the T20I series in Mohali on Thursday. Dube’s unbeaten knock of 60 runs from 40 deliveries earned him the title of “Player of the Match” thanks to his all-around effort. The 30-year-old bowled two overs for a wicket and gave up just nine runs, making for an efficient session.
Harbhajan Singh praised Dube’s performance on his YouTube channel and said, “One major change that I saw in Shivam Dube was his bowling pace. He has added a bit of it to his bowling now. His pace has definitely improved, and he has clearly worked on his fitness. He could be the long-term pace bowling all-rounder that India are looking for. If Shivam Dube scores runs in the remaining matches as well, it will be difficult to ignore him.”
India is desperately finding a fast bowling all-rounder for the T20 World Cup 2024, as Hardik Pandya’s fitness and unavailability disturb India’s Playing XI hugely.
The T20 World Cup is set to be held in the West Indies and USA from 1 June.
