While some questioned the logic behind selecting KS Bharat over the southpaw, others were unsatisfied with Chinaman Kuldeep Yadav's omission.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday announced the Indian squad for the first two Tests of the IND vs ENG Test series. The squad selection threw up a number of talking points. The social media was abuzz with reactions after the announcement that came late of Friday.

India went with set batters for the first two match of the 5-match Test series that included the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gill and others. The wicketkeeping department threw up some surprises with KS Bharat getting a call-up after a long time. KL Rahul in all likelihood will be the first choice keeper as India decided to omit Ishan Kishan and call up young Dhruv Jurel. In the bowling department, Mohammed Shami missed out due to an injury while Kuldeep Yadav was left out.
